Trauma Counseling
Trauma Counseling: Support and Healing. Many people experience trauma as a one-time event—a loss or accident. A significant event. Then there is another type of trauma that is called complex trauma. It is something that happened repeatedly over time. Both are powerful experiences and can leave a person feeling anxious, numb, or stuck. Sometimes, the effects last a long time —fear, pain, or confusion that doesn’t go away on its own. You’re not alone. With the support of a counselor, healing is possible.
Signs of Trauma: Trauma can show up as:
• Avoiding reminders of what happened.
• Intrusive thoughts, nightmares, or flashbacks.
• Feeling anxious, angry, reckless, sad, numb, or guilty.
• Trouble sleeping or concentrating or being present in the body or connected with self or others.
Loss of interest in activities- difficulty remembering details of the event- changes in habits or behavior.
